Tummy Time and Rice Cereal

Normally Grayson despises tummy time, so when he was actually smiling I had to snap some pics!

Notice our Saint Bernard, Kaylee, in the background getting a whiff of Grayson’s tushy.  Yum!!!

This kinda looks like one of those old school photos where they had you look off into the distance.  Haha!

Such a little cutie!

Kaylee is always so concerned about Grayson.  Always coming over to check on him and give him a quick sniff to make sure everything’s ok.  They’re going to be best buddies as he grows up!

This past week Grayson had his first taste of rice cereal!!  My little boy is growing up too fast!  He was a little unsure of it at first, but soon he got the hang of how to eat from a spoon.  He’s only getting one small serving of organic brown rice cereal about an hour before bedtime for now, but as he gets older and his appetite grows, we’ll start adding some other foods little by little.

On Saturday we took a video of him eating cereal for the 3rd time.  He did much better than the first time, and was actually able to keep most of it in his mouth!

The Many Faces of Kaylee

Many of you know that we have 5 furbabies at our home that we love and adore, and they each have their own unique personalities.  From territorial and hyper Camelot, to laid back and cross-eyed Lazarus, each of our babies brings something different to our household.

The same can be said about our female St. Bernard, Kaylee.  Kaylee was the third animal that Steve and I adopted as a couple, and the first dog (our kitties Lacey and Fancy were our first “babies”).  We brought her home at 8 weeks of age, and she could not be cuter!

This is Kaylee’s “happy face”.  This is the face she makes when she’s happy or excited, or when she’s posing for a picture like this.  Normally I can’t get her to look at the camera, but today for some reason, she didn’t mind the photo shoot.  I think it’s because we let her come into the bonus room with us where she’s not normally allowed.

This is Kaylee’s “burping face”.  Oh yes, I took this picture while she was burping.  It was just luck that I happened to be pointing my camera at her when she let that loveliness out.  She makes this face every time she burps….and let me tell you, it happens a lot!  Such a lady!

Here’s Kaylee’s “yawning face”.  Or maybe she’s laughing…I can’t tell.  Ok, she’s yawning.  But I’m just going to pretend that she’s laughing at a really funny joke I just told.  What’s the joke, you ask?  Well, let me tell you!

How much does it cost for a pirate to get his ears pierced?   A Buccaneer!

Hahahaha…..ok.  That wasn’t that funny, I know.  I’m not a very good joke teller.  But Kaylee seems to think so, or at least that’s what I’m going to keep telling myself.

Here’s Kaylee’s “sniff the kitty” face.  This kitty happens to be Lacey, the one who was sick right before Steve and I left for our honeymoon.  Luckily she is now back to her normal, spunky self.

Here’s Kaylee’s happy face again…..she made a lot of these during this particular photo shoot as I was trying to make different noises and faces so that she’d react how she normally does when there isn’t a camera stuck in her face.

Steve was trying to help by making funny sounds too, and Kaylee was a little confused as to what was going on.

She seems a little unsure about giving her daddy a kiss.

“Your lips smell good, Daddy!  What did you just eat?  Oh, a wonderfully delicious dinner cooked by Mommy?  No wonder they smell so good!  Mommy is such a great chef!

Why thank you, Kaylee!  You’re too kind.

Whenever you want Kaylee to give you a kiss, she more just sniffs your lips than kisses you.  I guess that’s a good thing, because Camelot will lick you right on the mouth with that huge St. Bernard tongue, and I don’t know how much of that I could handle.

Here’s the face I was looking for!!!!!  Kaylee makes this face whenever she’s confused about something.  She’ll be panting (because that’s what big, hairy dogs do in an environment that is not at winter temperatures), and then if we make a weird noise, or she sees something that is confusing, she’ll close her mouth but her tongue will still be sticking out.  It’s the most hilarious face that she makes and it cracks me up just looking at it!  I think I’m gonna need some lotion.

Get it?  Cracks me up.  Need lotion……..cricket…..cricket……..Is this thing on?

I know I’m cute, Mom, but can you stop taking pictures of me now?

Squirrel!”

If you’ve seen the movie Up you’ll get that reference.  If not, well then, I can’t help you.

Those are just a sampling of the many faces Kaylee makes on a daily basis.  She makes more facial expressions than any dog I’ve ever known.  She definitely has a special personality, and its fun to try to figure out what she’s thinking.  We love you Kaylee!  Our lives would not be complete without you in it.

Our Furry Babies

Yesterday I went a little camera happy with my Sigma lens and took several pictures of my furbabies.  There’s just something about this lens that I LOVE!  It takes such wonderful pictures, even though it doesn’t have a zoom on it, which can be a little inconvenient at times.  But it’s definitely a favorite lens for portraits.

It all started when I saw Lazarus laying inside this water bottle wrapping.  I thought to myself, “That would make a cute picture.”  And since I already had my camera in my hand from taking Steve’s picture yesterday, it made my decision very easy.

He’s such a cutie.

Then he saw Fancy hiding under the kitchen table and started stalking her behind Steve’s shoes.

And then……POUNCE!!!  He’s always doing that, but he’s so much slower than the other kitties that it’s pretty funny to watch.

When he couldn’t catch her, he came back and laid by the water bottle wrapper again and said, “What?  I wasn’t doing anything.  I was just laying here the whole time.”  Ok, he didn’t say that, but he is probably the easiest of our cats to tell what he is thinking.  He’s definitely a talker and complains a lot.

Then I saw pretty Lacey laying on the Sprite on top of the counter.  The light was hitting her in such a way that she just begged to have her picture taken.

Look at this gorgeous girl with her baby blue eyes!

Oh yah, that’s the spot!

Here’s a lovely shot of Fancy, who’s usually not very photogenic.  She can be looking at me completely fine, but the second I point a camera at her she turns away, so this shot was really exciting to get!  Such a pretty petite little thing.  Fance only weighs about 7 pounds on a good day.

Can’t forget about the doggies!  Here’s our sweet Kaylee.  Another non-photogenic baby.  She does not like having her picture taken and always refuses to look at the camera.

So if she ever does look at me, I have to have a very quick trigger finger and snap the photo with lightning speed!

“Don’t I have a pretty nose, Mommy?!  And how about those teeth?  I don’t know how to use my teeth to their full potential, but they sure do look pretty!”

And of course there’s Camelot, who recently made a trip to the groomers where he received his summer shave down.  I planned it so that he would be at the groomers during Elizabeth’s bridal shower.  Pretty sure everyone didn’t want to listen to Camelot bark during the entire shower.

Whenever I go outside with them, the dogs seem to get a sudden burst of energy and start playing chase.  Loving those ears, Camelot!  You can see his summer cut pretty good in this picture compared to Kaylee’s long coat.

I think it’s funny that I caught Camelot’s ears in the “up” position in each of these photos. 🙂  This one of him makes me smile.  He just looks like he’s having such a good time, doesn’t he?

Bite that butt!

Aww, little big buddies.  Thanks for sharing my babies with me!

Just had to see this one of Fancy one more time. 🙂
